SKI JUMPING

It’s the Vierschanzentournee’s (Four Hills Tournament’s) 60th anniversary this year. The Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofenevent is very proud, and so is ABT Sportsline. The globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group is now the Official Car Partner of this tournament, which is, after all, one of the biggest winter sport events worldwide. CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt today signed the contract with the event’s exclusive marketing partner Infront Sports & Media (November 11). “The Vierschanzentournee is the sports event at the turn of the year, a real must for all winter sport fans. For our dynamic brand, this is exactly the right environment: a cumulative audience of 173 million viewersin twelve countries follow the event.“

What the spectators on site and the TV audience will be able to see is a very special car in the finishzones: a red ABT Touareg Nordic Edition. This unique ABT will be given to the overall winner for six months. This dreamlike SUV from the Allgäu will certainly be an additional incentive for defending champion Thomas Morgenstern (Austria), vice-champion Simon Amman (Switzerland) or last year’s third, Tom Hilde (Norway).

One particularity of the Vierschanzentourneeis how it is organised: it is the only event in which the 50 best ski jumpers are divided into 25 pairs, subject to the knock-out system. All 25 winners and five lucky losers qualify for the final. The pair’s first jumper then awaits how his competitor does. This year, this exciting monitoring of one’s peer’s performance can be done from a comfortable seat designed like an ABT wheel.

When Schlierenzauer, Stoch or Neumayerare flying through the air, they can rely on a perfect organisation of the entire event. ABT will make available to all the people who see to such an excellent organisation ten Volkswagen Multivans. “The team depends upon mobility, and we can help them, of course,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. In return, the car tuner may use the Four Hills Tournament’s logo for corporate communication purposes. Hans-Jürgen Abt and his staff are definitely looking forward to the first event, which takes place in the Allgäu – in Oberstdorf, no 30km away from Kempten, where their company is based.
