The prefix in the VW Arteon name says it all – "art"! And indeed, the design of the four-door coupé is much more ambitious than the practical, but rather austere VW Passat. From a performance perspective, however, the Arteon cannot set itself apart from its brand colleague. About time to change that! Therefore, we adapted our engine control unit AEC (ABT Engine Control) especially for the Arteon, raising the 2-liter top gasoline engine to 335 hp (246 kW). The maximum torque is increased from 400 to 440 Nm. "That is an increase of a solid 20 per cent for both figures," CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt explains. "And that with absolute steadiness and an unchanged long service life."
But even the 2,0 TDI with 200 hp (147 kW) does not run out of steam. The diesel engine comes up with 230 hp (169 kW) and 440 Nm after the performance cure.
The sporty version of the Arteon is the Arteon R. Both, Arteon R Coupé as well as Arteon R Shooting Brake get a power upgrade of 62 hp - from 320 hp (235 kW) and 420 Nm to 384 hp (282 kW) and 470 Nm.
