Are you glad that the long season pause is finally over?
Thomas Biermaier: “Just like all the fans and drivers, our team can’t wait to get back on the track. We also occupy ourselves with Formula E every day between the races – but it’s quite different when you’re in the pits and the paddock and you can feel the excitement rising before a race.”
What have you been doing since the last race in Marrakesh?
Thomas Biermaier: “The Formula E regulations don’t leave much room for changes, since the entire hardware is homologated and therefore fixed. With the software it’s different, so detailed work and improvements are always possible. For all teams, Buenos Aires is like a new season start after the long break. This means we have to manage all the processes and procedures perfectly again and crack on.”
What are your expectations for the ePrix in Beunos Aires?
Thomas Biermaier: “The goal before every race is the same: We and our drivers want to fight for trophies and champagne. We have unfinished business from the first two seasons in Buenos Aires, as things didn’t go that well for us here. It is the only circuit on the calendar that we have already driven twice, so everyone knows it well. I think we’re going to experience an exciting race day.”
There have been many discussions about the home race in Berlin. What do you think of the move back to Tempelhof?
Thomas Biermaier: “First and foremost, we’re glad that Formula E has found a solution with the city. The Karl-Marx-Allee was a fantastic location, for which we received huge positive feedback from the fans – as well as many local residents. But then again Tempelhof has its charm and it was terrific in the first season with the autograph hour in the check-in hall, the compact area and the impressive backdrop. So we’re really looking forward to our home race in Berlin!”
