In addition to the popular VW T6, the expanded range also includes numerous vehicles based on the widely used MQB platform (modular transverse matrix). Customers of the world’s largest tuner for Volkswagen and Audi cars can choose between two completely different paint finishes for the ABT SPORT GR: either “matt black” with a diamond-machined surface and a matt clear finish or “glossy black” with a diamond-machined rim flange. “Technically, the rim is perfectly adapted to the specifications of cars from VW and Audi,” explains CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. This is not only true for track width and the perfect position in the wheel well. Agility and handling of the car itself were also important aspects. Using high-strength aluminum alloy, the engineers were able to design the ABT GR very light and realized an outstanding balance and an excellent true running quality. Both versions share the design features of ten spokes which bisect towards the rim flange, the recessed hub area and the strongly concave rim base. While the fully diamond-machined surface of the ABT SPORT GR matt black creates a high level of plasticity and delicate elegance, the ABT SPORT GR glossy black with diamond machining only on the flange appears more aggressive. Whatever version the customer chooses, the excellent corrosion protection takes care that the wheel will stay an eye catcher for many years.
